Deputy Register in Probate – Combined Court Operations
Hourly Salary: $44.95 to $67.42
Closing Date: August 05, 2025
Job Summary: Deputy Register in Probate facilitates the work of the Probate Court by performing statutorily assigned duties contained in ss. 851.72 and 851.73. Deputy Register in Probate reviews documents presented to the Probate Court, processes petitions, create court orders, presides over court hearings, monitors, and administers pending probate estate matters for timely resolution, and assists the public by answering questions about Probate Court procedures. Deputy Register in Probate also serves as an Acting Court Commissioner when Probate Court Commissioner is unavailable, presiding over guardianship/protective placement, probate, and mental health commitment hearings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviews documents presented to the Probate Court, processes petition, create court orders, presides over court hearings, monitors and administers pending probate estate matters for timely resolution, and assists the public by answering questions about Probate Court. Covers Probate Court Commissioner calendar as needed
Minimum education & Years of experience Required:
- Professional law Degree with three (3) years of experience practicing law.
License/Certification:
- Licensed to practice law in the State of Wisconsin.

NOTE: This original application is open to permanent residents of the state of Wisconsin at the time of application. In accordance with Section 11, Rule 3 of the Civil Service Rules a non-competitive examination will be held for this position. The non-competitive examination will consist of criteria deemed appropriate by the Director of Human Resources.
