Status: Part Time, Non-ExemptStarting Wage: $18.66/hr.
position Open Until Filled

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Responsible for opening and closing courtrooms.
  2. Provides court personnel with daily calendars and posts them outside each courtroom.
  3. Responsible for directing individuals in the hallways and in the courtroom. Provides assistance as needed.
  4. Responsible for set up and operation of the audio/visual equipment.
  5. Maintains order in the courtroom and ensure courtroom security in cooperation with Court Security Officers.
  6. May be assigned the responsibility of developing and maintaining the work schedules of the Bailiffs at the direction of the Judges.
  7. Collects case files for court cases.
  8. Provides case information to attorneys and other interested parties.

    In Jury Trial:

    1. Responsible for care, movement and sequestration of jurors.
    2. Provides for communication and food/beverage needs.
    3. Responsible for securing all electronic communication devices (i.e. cell phones etc.) of jurors during jury service.
    4. Regular attendance and punctuality required.
    5. Performs related duties as may me required or assigned.

    REQUIRED JOB COMPETENCIES

    • General knowledge of jurisdiction and types of cases of the assigned court.

    • General knowledge of courthouse security procedures.

    • Ability to establish effective relationships with Judges, attorneys, witnesses, other members of the courthouse staff, and the public.

    • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals.

    • Ability to maintain records and reports.

    • Ability to appropriately intervene during a disturbance in the courthouse and to assist in protecting all court personnel and others.

    PHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Courtroom and Office environment.

    Qualifications

    High School (required)
    Equivalent combination of education and experience which provide the necessary knowledge skills and abilities may be considered. (preferred)
