Job Description

The Staff Attorney, Intellectual Property/Patents will be responsible for providing legal advice and counsel on a wide range of issues relating to patents and technology related intellectual property, including having responsibility for handling and/or managing patent portfolio related activities, as well as outside counsel in connection with the preparation and prosecution of patent applications. This position will be expected to work closely with internal clients, and coordinate work with other attorneys within the Office of the General Counsel.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) with a strong academic background
  • 4+ years of experience involving patent preparation, prosecution, and clearance opinions
  • Registered (in good standing) to practice before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possesses excellent writing, oral communication, analytical, organizational, and strategic thinking skills
  • Experience with automotive related technology is preferred
  • Mechanical or electrical engineering degree/background
  • Experience involving patent litigation, and/or technology related intellectual property agreements
