This opportunity is ideal for a highly organized and detail-oriented legal professional with significant experience handling District of Columbia family law matters. The successful candidate will work closely with a family law attorney, providing comprehensive case support while managing an active caseload in a fast-paced legal environment. This role requires strong knowledge of DC family law procedures, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, prepare, and assist with filing pleadings, motions, discovery documents, correspondence, and other family law materials.
  • Support attorneys with divorce, custody, child support, alimony, and other domestic relations matters.
  • Assist with discovery requests, responses, document organization, and case preparation.
  • Prepare materials for hearings, mediations, and trials.
  • Maintain organized and accurate case files throughout all stages of litigation.
  • Track deadlines, court requirements, and case milestones to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Coordinate court filings and ensure compliance with District of Columbia court rules and procedures.
  • Manage attorney calendars, including hearings, meetings, deadlines, and client appointments.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and other parties.
  • Provide timely updates and assistance while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Assist with gathering client documents and information necessary for case preparation.
  • Independently manage assigned tasks and prioritize competing deadlines.
  • Anticipate case needs and proactively support attorney workflow.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy, organization, and professionalism.

Schedule: Full time or Part time Monday – Friday 8:30a-5p
